The Reaping

The Reaping
"Evil has a savior." Take that tagline and throw in the name Hillary Swank and I'm sold. This is one of 2 movies coming out this year with Hillary Swank, the other being The Black Dahlia, and with her career to date including last year's Best Actress award, I'm betting both are going to be great.

The movie is titled The Reaping and is set to come out on November 8th. Rotten Tomatoes gives us the synopsis:
A former Christian missionary (Swank), who lost her faith after her family was tragically killed, has since become a world renowned expert in disproving religious phenomena. But, when she investigates a small Louisiana town that is suffering from what appear to be the Biblical plagues, she realizes that science cannot explain what is happening, and she must regain her faith to combat the dark forces threatening the community.

It sounds like a pretty awesome kind of supernatural thriller, and like I said before, Hillary Swank is in it. What has she ever done that wasn't great? She's easy on the eyes too, as if I needed another reason to see it. But this is one of those movies that deals with something that, in itself, is fascinating (the 10 Biblical plagues). I can't wait to see how they make it all look. I mean, if you watch the trailer you see a blood red swamp and it looks awesome, and a little bit of the locusts, which also look good, but I can't wait to see how it all turns out, especially when it's set in a this kind of movie. Make it all creepy and use a lot of suspense building shots. I can't wait. Then, to add a layer, throw in a little girl that seems to be the source of the evil, the "savior" as put in the tagline, and we've got ourselves a thriller! Check out the trailer here and see for yourself (thanks to The Movie Blog for the link), and you can check out the official site here.
